The UK Border Agency has published a formal analysis of the responses to its 2009 public consultation 'Earning the right to stay: a new points test for citizenship'.

The consultation was published on 3 August 2009 and ran for 12 weeks, closing on 26 October 2009.

We have now analysed the 2,201 written responses, and the report sets out the results alongside the views of 1,074 members of the public who participated in a Home Office TNS consumer omnibus

The Borders, Citizenship and Immigration Act 2009 set the framework for reforming the journey to citizenship, and the proposals in the consultation take the government's reform of the immigration system to the next stage - strengthening our control of those coming permanently to the UK, while supporting integration and managing the impacts of migration.
